FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Andover, MA (October 30, 2024): Boston Boxing Promotions has announced that Andover, Massachusetts’ Gene Beraldi will be making his pro boxing debut at the seventh annual Thanksgiving Eve Boxing Spectacular in his hometown at the DoubleTree on Wednesday, November 27, in a four-round super welterweight fight against Tampa’s Paul Walters.

It is believed that should Beraldi emerge victorious, he will be the oldest man in history to make a successful pro debut. He turns 54 years old this Friday.

“Earlier this year, my family lost my nephew Matty to Osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer,” said Beraldi. “Between that and selling some of my businesses, I needed to occupy my time with something positive and I found myself using boxing as a coping mechanism. This isn’t some new career venture, but I wanted to have a pro fight, I’ve learned all too well that life can be short and make moments count. I plan on making the moment count November 27th.”

Beraldi, a former amateur boxer who competed regularly in the late 90’s, has since had a successful career owning and operating stores selling wines and spirits.

Beraldi has never left the gym and has always trained even when not actively competing. He works out at Haverhill Downtown Boxing under the guidance of Ray Hebert as well his sister Domenica Beraldi, brother-in-law Jonathan Giordano, and Jonathan Pramas.

His opponent, Paul Walters, is a veteran of the United States military and an experienced combat sports athlete having competed in boxing, mixed martial arts, and bare-knuckle boxing. At age 40 on fight night, he’ll find himself in the unusual position of being the younger man in the ring.

The Thanksgiving Eve Boxing Spectacular takes place on Wednesday, November 27 with a bell time of 7 pm. Tickets are available now at www.BostonBoxingPromotions.com/Tickets/
