FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Melrose, MA (September 17, 2024) – The stakes have been raised for the 8-round welterweight rematch this Friday in Melrose, Massachusetts between Haverhill’s πππππ ππππππ (8-0-1, 5 KO’s) and Tyngsboro’s ππππ πππππππ (6-3-1, 3 KO’s) as this fight will now be contested for the vacant New England Welterweight Championship. Tickets are available at www.BostonBoxingPromotions.com/Tickets/. The event will also stream live at www.CombatSportsNow.com.
The first fight between Tejada and Balakin was named 2023 “Fight of the Year” and ended in a draw last November. This time, both fighters have two more rounds to work with and a championship belt on the line.
“My most recent fight was at 140 pounds and that’s where I intend on campaigning, but the opportunity to rematch Nate Balakin at welterweight was not something I could pass up. Now that it’s for the New England title, it’s just icing on the cake. I can’t wait,” said Tejada.
Balakin also shared the same excitement.
“I’ve been busy at home caring for my baby daughter and working long hours and training. I’ve neglected going to the mall to get a new belt to hold up my pants lately and I have no interest in suspenders. This alleviates that problem. I’ll fight for the New England Welterweight Championship belt this Friday and I can’t hold back my enthusiasm.”
The event goes down this Friday night at Melrose Memorial Hall beginning at 7 pm. Tickets are still available at www.BostonBoxingPromotions.com/Tickets/. Or catch the PPV livestream at www.CombatSportsNow.com.
