BRANDON BERRY RETURNS TO THE RING AT WINDHAM BOXING EVENT, DEDICATES CAREER TO MEMORY OF BEST FRIEND

Windham, NH  [November 29, 2017] – Boston Boxing Promotions is pleased to announce that West Forks, Maine’s Brandon “The Cannon” Berry (11-2-2, 7 KO’s) will be in action in a six-round welterweight fight against Philadelphia’s Bryan Goldsby (4-5) on Saturday January 27, 2018 at the Castleton Banquet & Conference Center in Windham, New Hampshire.

“I expect 2018 to be a real good year for me. I want to stay as busy and as active as possible,” Brandon Berry said.

“It’s been over two years since I’ve taken control of my own career, and it’s been so liberating – I train with trainers I want, I travel to spar with the best fighters all across New England and go to Boston a few times a week to work out with (trainer) Ed Lavasche. The final piece of the puzzle is I want to compete a lot and fight more often than I ever have before. January 27th will start that, and I’ll be ready for Bryan Goldsby.”

The wildly popular and always exciting Berry is coming off a draw against another Pennsylvania fighter in Pittsburgh’s Eric Palmer  last month in a six-round fight in Portland. It marked Berry’s first fight in 17 months following surgery on his shoulder due to an injury he suffered in his previous fight against Detroit’s James Lester.

The bout was an emotional fight for Berry who was competing for the first time since his best friend, and fellow professional boxer, Joel Bishop of Clinton, Maine had passed away. Bishop, who was the best man at Berry’s wedding in September, died in a car accident while leaving the wedding. Dedicating the fight to Bishop, Berry fought just weeks after being cleared to train following his shoulder surgery, and just weeks following the sudden passing of his best friend. Fighting to a draw was oddly fitting as Joel Bishop’s professional boxing career concluded with two draws in two fights.

“I dedicated my last fight to Joel and I’ll dedicate the rest of my career in his memory” Berry said. “And while I don’t regret going through with my most recent fight as it was in honor of him, it’ll feel real good to have a full eight weeks to prepare for this next one. I feel like I’m in great shape now and I’ll be in even better shape come January 27th.”

Bryan Goldsby is a notorious tough guy competing at high levels of professional boxing and mixed martial arts. In the boxing ring, he has quite honestly fought better opposition than Berry, including undefeated Eastern European Enriko Gogokhia and Brooklyn native Chordale Booker. In the mixed martial arts cage, Goldsby is a veteran of the Bellator Fighting Championships where he defeated UFC Veteran Jeff Curran before participating in the Bellator Bantamweight Championship tournament.
