Higgins-Molina New England Superfight Announced for Thanksgiving Eve
Windham, NH (September 20, 2022) – Boston Boxing Promotions has announced the main event for the fifth annual Thanksgiving Eve Boxing Spectacular to take place Wednesday, November 23, 2022, at the Castleton Banquet and Conference Center in Windham, New Hampshire. Two of the Merrimack Valley’s most popular fighters will meet when Chelmsford, Massachusetts’ Brandon Higgins (9-2, 5 KO’s) takes on Lowell’s Nick Molina (10-0, 4 KO’s) in an eight-round fight for the vacant New England Super Lightweight Championship.
For the first time in Boston Boxing Promotions history, two fighters who have won the “Fighter of the Year” award will face each other inside the squared circle. Molina won the award in 2021 following a calendar year he capped off with a career best unanimous decision over California’s Daniel Robles. Higgins was named Boston Boxing Promotions “Fighter of the Year” in 2019 after going 3-0 with two knockouts that year.
“I’m excited to be making my debut in the 140-pound weight division,” said Higgins. “Especially against a talented and skillful boxer like Nick Molina. I feel I’ll have more power and strength at this weight class, and I always like to show improvements from fight to fight. I plan on bringing home this title belt.”
These two fighters are no strangers to one another. They both got their start training at the old West End Gym in Lowell. They’ve sparred countless rounds over the years both as noteworthy regional amateurs and now as burgeoning pro fighters.
“Brandon and I go way back to our days at the West End Gym, and we have both come so far,” said Molina. “I’m excited to be in the main event and be a part of one of the biggest fights this year in Boston Boxing Promotions.”
“Our history together won’t matter once the bell rings. It’ll be all business,” said Higgins.
Adding to the local bragging rights which will be at stake in this fight will be the New England Super Lightweight Championship belt. This title has been held in the past by such local boxing legends as Maine’s Joey Gamache, Brockton’s Tony Petronelli and Haverhill’s Jeff Fraza.
“My cousin Rich Gingras is a former New England Light Heavyweight Champion, so I’d like to get another New England Championship belt in the family tree,” said Higgins.
Doors will open at 6 pm with first fight taking place at 7 pm on November 23 at the Castleton. Tickets are on sale now at www.BoxingNH.com.
