POPULAR MILITARY VETERANS SET TO ELECTRIFY WINDHAM AT APRIL 28 BOXING EVENT

Windham, NH  [February 28, 2018] – Boston Boxing Promotions has announced the first fight scheduled for its card on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Castleton Banquet and Conference Center in Windham, New Hampshire.  It features a pair of undefeated fighters putting their unblemished records on the line.

In a four-round welterweight fight, Haverhill, Massachusetts’ “Irish” Tommy O’Connell will meet up with Maine’s Bruce “Pretty Boy” Boyington in an all-New England clash.

O’Connell made his pro debut at the Castleton in Windham this past January earning a hard fought unanimous decision over New York’s Bryan Abraham. Now, the former standout on the basketball court at North Andover High School and United States Coast Guard veteran will step up in level of opposition against Boyington, a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, who is undefeated in the boxing ring and a former regional champion in the mixed-martial-arts cage.

“I’m looking forward to another eventful and successful night on April 28th,” said Tommy O’Connell, “I’m excited to be fighting another fighter with an identical record as mine. I like testing myself, and I feel I’ll be doing that with Bruce Boyington.”

“It’ll be great to do this fight at the Castleton in Windham. My fan base was going wild there for my pro debut. I expect to see a lot of familiar faces there again in April.”

Boyington, who made his pro boxing debut at the legendary Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston, Maine, (the site of Muhammad Ali’s infamous 1965 heavyweight title defense over Sonny Liston), with a four-round decision win over Nate Charles in 2014. He returned to the boxing ring for a massive step up in 2017 to take on former national amateur champion middleweight Russell Lamour in a fight that resulted in a no contest due to an accidental clash of heads in the second round of the scheduled four-round fight.

“I’m looking forward to fighting Tommy O’Connell in New Hampshire,” said Boyington who maintains a massive fan base of his own out of the Bangor, Maine area where he owns and operates Boyington’s Taekwondo Academy.

“From the video I’ve seen, O’Connell comes to fight and comes to engage. That’s exactly what I like. I intend on having some fun in there and I’m inspired by the fact that he’s also undefeated with the same record as me.”

For Boyington, this will mark his first professional fight in New Hampshire since 2013 when he outpointed Devin Powell in a mixed martial arts match. Powell has since gone on to fight twice in the UFC, and his loss to Boyington remains the sole regional defeat on his record.  Boyington has fought on major national and international MMA cards across the globe in places like Russia and Madison Square Garden in New York City.
