Light Heavyweight Bout Promises an Electric Atmosphere on July 23 in Windham, NH

Windham, NH [May 24, 2021] – Boston Boxing Promotions has announced another fight for Night 1 of The Great American Boxing Bash on Friday July 23rd at Castleton Banquet and Conference Center in Windham, New Hampshire. Acushnet, Massachusetts’ Stephen “Clubber” Langlais (1-1, 1 KO) will take on Watertown, Massachusetts’ Rico DePaolis (1-1, 1 KO) in a four-round light heavyweight fight.

“Considering we haven’t been allowed to have full capacity fans for over a year and a half, we need to welcome back crowds with the fights fans have been asking for,” said Boston Boxing Promotions President Peter Czymbor.

“This fight pits a fighter from south of Boston against a fighter from north of Boston, both with big fanbases who are desperate to get out of the house with the way the world has been for the past year and support their guy. The atmosphere will be electric, and the action is bound to be scintillating between the ropes the way these two guys fight.”

Langlais made his pro debut amidst a limited capacity crowd last November with a 2nd round TKO over Springfield’s Jesus Cintron. Not one to back down from a challenge, Langlais actually requested one for himself when he asked to fight the undefeated Matthew Tinker (6-0, 5 KO’s) in his second pro bout in which he came up short.

Nevertheless, the spirit to seek out solid competition remains and there was no hesitation in Langlais to fight Rico DePaolis in July.

“I’m excited to be back in front of an audience and at full capacity,” exclaimed an enthusiastic Langlais.

“Rico looked good in his last fight. He controlled the ring and was able to walk away with a TKO win. However, I see myself getting on Rico and fighting a smart fight. No matter what happens, I see my hand getting raised, and while I’d like to get an early stoppage, I’m prepared to go the distance.”

Depaolis bounced back from a loss in his pro debut last March to score a first round KO over Woburn’s Francisco Neto in his most recent fight earlier this month. A former standout on the basketball court at Framingham State University and coach at Stonehill College, DePaolis uses boxing as a way to quench his competitive thirsts. This will be his first professional fight in front of a live audience following his first two bouts taking place amidst Covid protocols on Boston Boxing Promotions’ YouTube streams.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to fight in front of a passionate crowd at the Castleton which will include my wife and my family,” said DePaolis.

“I know Langlais comes from an active gym with multiple active professionals and I’m sure will be training hard as at 1-1 we both want to get our records above .500. However, I mostly focus on my own preparation and not what he’s doing. I trust that with my work ethic and guidance from my coaches, I’ll be in peak physical condition and competing at my highest level on July 23rd.”
