Women’s Fight Announced for Boxing Superstars Card

Windham, NH [March 11, 2022] – Boston Boxing Promotions has announced a four-round women’s junior welterweight fight between Wakefield, Massachusetts’ Fernanda Araujo and Springfield, Massachusetts’ Liz Humphries for Friday, April 22, 2022, at the Castleton Banquet and Conference Center in Windham, New Hampshire.

Araujo and Humphries each have one pro boxing match to their credit. Araujo lost a decision to Kimberly Wabik in her pro debut in Nashua in 2019. Humphries fought Wabik to a draw on Thanksgiving Eve of 2018.

Araujo is a high-level combat sports practitioner with a resume that includes 2 amateur boxing matches against United States Olympian Rashida Ellis, a record of 6-4 in mixed-martial-arts, and international judo competition in Brazil, Canada and the United States.

“I’m so excited to be back in the ring as I haven’t fought in three years, so I’m super pumped. I’m looking forward to putting on a good show with Liz. All the respect to her for stepping in the ring with me,” said Araujo.

Humphries, who works days as a special education teacher at Putnam Vocational-Technical High School in Springfield, was an accomplished amateur boxer before turning pro. She was a former Western New England Golden Gloves Champion.

“I’m hyped! I’ve been waiting three years for the right opportunity and right opponent and this seems to be both of these,” exclaimed Humphries.

“I expect us to go the distance and put on a good match. She has more MMA experience and I have more boxing, but we both seem to be well-rounded athletes who can adjust to different styles,” Humphries continued.

Boxing Superstars takes place at the Castleton Banquet & Conference Center in Windham, NH on Friday, April 22, 2022, at 7 pm. Tickets are on sale now at www.BostonBoxingPromotions.com/Tickets/.
