Hyannis, Massachusetts [July 29, 2015] – Pro Boxing Returns Cape Cod for the first time in nearly a decade August 8th at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC) in Hyannis, MA. Tickets are available now at CapeCodBoxing.com. Below are some fun facts about the August 8th event.

– When Hyannis heavyweight Jesse Barboza (9-1-1, 5 KO’s) steps into the ring that night to take on Pennsylvania’s Jesse Oltmanns (10-5, 7 KO’s) for the Northeast Heavyweight Championship, it will be his first shot at a title as a pro fighter and the first time he has fought in his hometown as a professional. As an amateur, however, Barboza won three New England Golden Gloves titles and did fight once in Hyannis.

– When Harwich’s Paul Gonsalves (7-7-1, 3 KO’s) takes on Mexico’s  Rafael Valenzuela (8-5, 1 KO) in a light-heavyweight matchup on August 8th, it will be his first fight in his native Cape Cod. Gonsalves, however, has already fought at some prestigious boxing venues as a pro fighter, including New York’s Madison Square Garden, Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut and the UIC Pavillion in Chicago in a bout that was broadcast nationally on ESPN.

– When Pembroke’s Vinnie Carita (9-1-1, 9 KO’s) steps into the ring at the HYCC August 8th, it will be the first time he has fought in Hyannis since his pro debut in May 2005. That night, at the then Sheraton Resort, Carita made a successful pro debut with a first round TKO of Brockton’s Derrick Osborne.

– Both Jesse Barboza and Paul Gonsalves come from families of fighters. Barboza’s grandfather Walter Barboza was a professional welterweight fighter in the 1950s and Paul Gonsalves father David Gonsalves, Sr. was also a pro fighter.

The August 8, 2015 event will be presented by Boston Boxing Promotions. It will be the first professional boxing event held in Hyannis since 2006. General admission tickets are $40 and are on sale now at www.CapeCodBoxing.com. Fans are urged to purchase tickets early due to limited availability.
